The George Elmy

The George Elmy was an RNLB lifeboat based in Seaham, County Durham.  In 1962 she tragically capsized whilst carrying out a rescue mission leading to the deaths of the 5 crew, plus all but one of the rescued people. The boat was later rediscovered in 2009 in a state of extensive disrepair. We made this series of videos following Fred Crowell's restoration of the George Elmy.
